Dave Coak has been involved in audio since the early 1970’s. When 20 years old, he started and successfully a home stereo equipment retail sales operation (Dave Coak Audio Labs) from his home while beginning to record live music events in stereo with his own configuration of surround encoding and playback.
Dave felt then as he does now, that accurately capturing the “sound field” of a live performance and then being able to recreate the live performance “in the venue” at home is very important for acoustic music, and that amplified music (IE. Bands) is best captured much closer with very controlled spatial conditions that capture the sound quality of the instruments and voices in the performance at it’s best while purposely keeping out most of the acoustic characteristics of the live sound system and ‘room’, resulting in more of a “studio recorded” sound while not loosing any of the feeling of listening to a real “live performance” in their home, car, or office.
